Peloponnese Greece

Peloponnese is an area in the southern most part of Greece, most noted for its mountainous terrain and beautiful sunny coast lines. Since ancient times Peloponnese has played a vital role in the history of Greece. Several major battles were fought in the area, and even today the country side is littered with ancient ruins.

Today the Peloponnese area thrives on tourism being the major port of entry for ships coming to Greece from the south. The area is also famous for the Olympic torch, which is lit in Olympia a city in Peloponnese before heading to the games every four years.
